LB charter school students getting down to business

Editor's Note: This is one in an occasional series following Long Beach middle schools as students and teachers try to meet standards of the federal No Child Left Behind Act.

LONG BEACH - In a recent class at Micro-Enterprise Charter Academy, the middle school students were using a computer program to build their own simulated amusement park, complete with roller coasters and concession stands.

Although fun, the lesson was not solely for their entertainment. It was meant to give students a feel of how to run their own amusement park as a successful business.
